“At Cast, we believe in the power of collaboration, that collective strength makes us all shine brighter,” says Rachel Skelly, the brand’s CCO. As a curator and producer, and now designer, Alice has decades of experience rooted in exactly this belief, and collaboration - with artisans and clients, as well as other brands - is one of the defining motifs of her creative practice. It was a great place to begin what has evolved to be a major creative journey.
One of the most inspiring briefings Alice has had as a designer was the challenge set for her by Rachel Skelly, creative director of Cast, when the concept was in its early stages of evolution - to design something that might become an icon of the brand.
What followed was a design research process that led Alice to talk to industry luminaries from collectors, to dealers, jewellery editors to curators, in search of a definition for that mercurial quality that confers iconic status upon a jewel.
What followed was Icon, a collection that in a short space of time has captured the imagination, with the Fearless Muse ring the brand’s best selling piece, worn by international style legends such as Rachel Zoe and TV icon Harper in White Lotus.
Along side the Icon collection, Alice developed Mad Mod, a range of stacking bangles and statement rings that distilled Alice’s distinct colour and pattern sensibility into a flavor that was rich with Rachel’s passion for midcentury aesthetics and contemporary glamour.
Launched in 2021, Cast is an American fine jewelry brand bringing warmth and wonder to the shopping experience. Their exclusive collections, designed by women for a brand led by women, are created with some of the world’s most inventive jewelry designers. As with all the best collaborations, Alice x Cast have passions that spring from the same foundation - an emphasis on craft and deep storytelling, making work that takes you on a journey which inspires curiosity and encourages play.
