High Sari Marbled Pendant

£6,260.00

14ct yellow gold, kunzite, silk, lacquer enamel

Available in stock.

Alice’s first High Sari piece was created as a bespoke commission for a client to gift to his partner. Inspired by the patterning on a piece from the V&A collection that incorporated classic Indian chintz into a Westernized dress form, the ring also played on the shape of the traditional Indian archer’s ring to create a set of jackets that could be worn separately or together with the centre ring for a statement piece.

Giving free reign to her imagination, Alice began to develop a series of 10 one-of-a-kind jewels which became High Sari, the fullest expression of her vision for this collection.

The collection launched with Victoria Lampley’s The Stax at Sotheby’s Palm Beach in the Spring of 2022. A single jewel remains from this first group. The sold editions can be remade to commission but with their unique stones and colours, ensuring that no two jewels are alike. The jewels will be delivered with their own certification and leather presentation box.

Marbled lacquer enamel is a development created by Alice & her master enameller in the UK. Inspired by the use of marbled end papers, developing the mesmerising artistry of marbled lacquered enamel has been a beautiful process, exploring one of the ways in which lacquer enamel can shine in its own unique material capacity. Marbled paper in books, like meenakari enamel, originated in Persia where examples of the decoration could be found on manuscripts of the 16th century.

This current version of the High Sari Marbled Pendant uses a striking kunzite as its centre stone. The reverse features a motif from an Odisha sari, a small boat floating across turbulent marbled seas.
